Artist Registration & Check-in Process

All artists (team members included) need to register online by Wednesday, August 20th, 2025. Each registered team will receive a Chalk the Block for Charity Utah™ official space number, a 48-piece chalk set, and festival t-shirts (for the first 350 registrants). Artists may check-in at the Information booth on Thursday, August 21st starting at 9:00am. There you will receive your t-shirt, chalk, and your official space number. YOU MAY PICK YOUR OWN SPACE THIS YEAR. Please have a few in mind before checking in.

Each artist/team will be receive an asphalt parking stall to chalk in. The festival will be held in the north Provo Beach lot at The Shops at Riverwoods.

Only CHALK can be used for drawings, with a base layer of white or black tempura paint if desired. No other paint, crayon, ink, non-washable or permanent products may be used. Each team will be given a 48 piece box of pastel chalk. You may mix your chalk with water to be used as “paint”.

Judging will take place around 3:00 pm on Saturday, August 23rd. YOUR TENT AND SUPPLIES MUST BE CLEARED BY THAT TIME IN ORDER TO QUALIFY FOR THE COMPETITION. Artwork will be judged in the following categories: Best in Show 1st, 2nd, 3rd, People’s Choice 1st, 2nd, 3rd, Best Use of Color, Best Representation of the Theme, Artist’s Choice, Best Representation of a Master’s Work and Youth 1st and 2nd. *subject to change*


Hidden Symbols in support of Autism Awareness

As many of you know, we are proud to donate the proceeds of the festival to a charity. This year we are pleased to be working with Spectrum Academy. To show your support feel free to add a symbol to your artwork in honor of Spectrum Academy and their focus on children with Autism. Symbols of Autism include, but are not limited to, the infinity symbol, butterflies, a puzzle piece, or the gold ribbon of acceptance.

As we continue to elevate the quality of the festival, every team MUST pre-submit a brief sketch or picture of your design. These images should be submitted via email (take a picture and email it) to [email protected] by the time you check in and receive your materials. Please include your name in the email so that we can match your team to the submitted sketch. The art created must be suitable for public and family viewing (no nude or lewd work). No words or symbols intended as political statements may appear within the art. The Chalk the Block for Charity Utah™ Committee reserves the right to refuse, stop, or eliminate objectionable material.


To be officially included in this year’s award competition artists must be registered and have their art piece finished by 3pm on Saturday, August 23rd. We also encourage our artists to post their photos to social media using the hashtag: #Chalktheblockforchairtyutah2025.
